Found just south of Aurora, New York, Long Point State Park lies deep in the heart of Finger Lakes Wine Country. It provides beautiful lakeside views and multiple recreational opportunities for folks of all ages. For boat enthusiasts, Long Point State Park contains a large, four-lane boat launch on Cayuga Lake perfect for getting vessels onto the water in a hurry.Â
The lake is open to larger speedboats, paddleboats, and small self-powered crafts like kayaks or canoes. If you'd enjoy getting your boat out on the lake, make sure you've gotten your up to date registration from the state of New York. Rental services are available for paddleboards and canoes, provided you've taken the prerequisite safety courses.Â
Canines are free to ride along on watercraft at any owner's discretion. Long Point State Park also offers swimming, with a dedicated swim area roped off inside of the lake. A large play raft exists in this area, providing enjoyment to kids of all ages during the summer months. No lifeguards are on duty here, so guests swim at their own risks.Â
Canines may accompany guests on the beaches here, provided they're kept on a six-foot leash or shorter. Something special offered by Long Point State Park is their custom-built rental cottage, which is found right on the coast of Cayuga Lake. It resides just a short distance away from a local winery, a beautiful apple orchard, and a beer brewery.Â
All modern amenities are included here, with a full jacuzzi bath even being offered! Reservations for this cottage can be made up to six months in advance, so make sure to check the New York State Parks' website for more information on how to save your spot. Canines are allowed inside of the cottage, provided guests pay an additional deposit. Guests are reminded to clean up any debris their pets might leave behind.
