Description

Seattle is becoming one of the most pup-friendly cities on the west coast, offering parks, trails, and restaurants where pups and their humans can explore together. City-run and fully-fenced Magnolia Manor Park Off-Leash Area is one such place, perched atop one of Seattle’s many hills near downtown at the site of a covered reservoir inside the lovely Magnolia Manor Park.

Not to be confused with the nearby Magnolia Park, the Manor park's off-leash area sits on the west side of the park, right off of 28th Ave W. Plentiful free parking is available on adjacent streets. Small or shy dogs that want to avoid bigger pups can romp in their own fenced section. This doggy haven also features a “chuck-it” game zone and mutt-nificent views of the Seattle skyline. And for every pup's safety, two security gates safeguard the main play area and another one protects the small/shy dog section.

The wide-open expanse of the play area has a sand, pebble, and wood chip surface, plus some shade trees to keep everyone cool. Doggy sunscreen can protect your canine’s ear tips and nose on sunny days. During and after rainy days, it's smart to bring a towel to wipe off any mud.

A few large tree trunks and stumps inside the play area encourage pups to practice their climbing and balancing skills, and there’s plenty of room to run at full speed. There’s seating for dog people, and a water fountain to keep everyone hydrated. The city also provides clean-up bags and receptacles to discard them in, but it’s always a good idea to bring a couple of bags with you in case it runs out.

When you’re ready to leave, help youe pup cool down before getting in the car by taking a leashed stroll on the paved path that circles the play area. Be sure to clip on your doggo’s leash for the short walk to and from the off-leash area.

Like all city-run dog parks, Magnolia Manor expects all dogs to be licensed and vaccinated for rabies, distemper, Bordetella, and parvo before entering. If a pupper tends to get over-excited or display aggressive behavior, pet parents are responsible for curbing the behavior or taking them out of the park.

If you’re looking for a furtastic dog park with just the right number of puppers for your fur baby to play with, head over to Magnolia Manor Park Off-Leash Area! Tucker will have a barkin’ good time!
