Margaret Lewis Norrie State Park

Margaret Lewis Norrie State Park is part of a broader, three park complex that also includes Ogden Mills and Ruth Livingston Mills Memorial State Parks. Encompassing over 1000 acres, it offers a wide array of opportunities including hiking, fishing, camping, and bird watching among others. 

Overnight guests will have a ball in Margaret Lewis Norrie State Park, with 46 primitive tent sites being strategically placed throughout this extensive forest region. These sites are meant primarily for tent campers looking to have a rustic overnight stay. 

In addition to these sites, there are ten cabins lining the Hudson River that come stocked with many modern amenities including an indoor shower, full kitchen with microwave, and fold out hideaway bed. Canines are free to accompany guests staying on any of the primitive sites, provided they stay on a leash. 

If you're looking to keep your dog indoors, you'll have to leave an additional deposit before entering your cabin for the night. If you're a history buff, you'll have a great time exploring these over 14 miles of trails here. Margaret Lewis Norrie State Park offers several opportunities to enjoy these trails via guided tours that run throughout the warmer months. 

These tours vary in cost, so make sure to check out the posted park schedules to find out when the next chance is to get educated on Margaret Lewis Norrie State Park's history, as well as the species of critters that populate the region. All hiking trails are marked at their heads with a difficulty rating and length, so guests can craft an experience that suits their abilities. 

Canines are welcome on these trails as long as guests pick up any refuse that they may leave behind. If you'd like to get your boat out on one of the two lakes in Margaret Lewis Norrie State Park, you can use the slip spaces and boat launch that is connected to the on-site marina. There are 145 slips in all, so guests can usually show up and have a spot. Canines are welcome to accompany guests in these areas but are forbidden from entering any indoor structures.
