Description
The McGrath Dog Park does require a permit from the city of Newton before you can bring your canine to play here off-leash. Professional dog walkers have to have a Medallion and can have no more than three canines under their care. Permits can be acquired at the City Hall located on Commonwealth Avenue.

Be sure to bring your canine's license and proof of vaccinations. More information regarding the application process you can visit their website or call the City Hall Clerks Office. This dog park is fenced and quite large. This allows you to bring and wear out a canine with boundless energy.

There is plenty of room for some long-range games like fetch or frisbee. This dog park does not have separate areas for large and small canines. This can put small canines at a higher risk of injury as they play with canines many times their size. There are a few trees inside the McGrath Dog Park.

These trees provide a decent amount of shade for the patrons of the park as they line the fence, however seating underneath them is fairly limited. There are benches in regular intervals along the fence line, but only a few of them fall within the shade of the trees, leaving the rest of the park open the suns rays on a hot day.

The grounds here are well maintained. The grass is in good shape for the spring and summer months and is often cut. The McGrath Dog Park provides water in the form of a fountain just inside the fenced area. All throughout the dog park, you can find waste stations with poop bags readily available.

Outside of the dog park, the Richard McCrath Park covers a total of 10-acres. This space is used for many different activities. They have a variety of sports fields, tennis courts, and playgrounds. There are some pavilions for picnics are group gatherings. This makes for a great place to bring your canine to socialize with others.

Wag! does not allow or encourage Pet Care Providers to bring dogs to parks.
