Messenger Marsh Dog Park
Housed on the premises is a five-acre off-leash dog exercise area. For use by dogs who are small, senior, or shy, there is an additional one-acre enclosure where a gentler play style is in effect. The Messenger Marsh Dog Park staff recommend that owners bring water and a dog dish with them as there is none available on the grounds. Poop bags are also a must as owners are responsible for cleaning up after their dogs.
Messenger Marsh Dog Park is public dog play haven; however, a permit is required to access to the grounds. For a once yearly fee, all dogs and their owners gain entrance to any of the five area dog parks. The cost of a permit is $40 for residents and $80 for non-residents with rates reduced by half if purchased after July. Seniors receive a $10 discount off the quoted prices. A single park permit allows access for one dog only.
Families with more than one dog can purchase a second pass for $20 for residents and $30 for owners residing elsewhere. Park officials will require a completed application, valid rabies certificate, and proof of city dog license in order to process your registration. Once membership has been approved, all owners are required to wear their ID lanyard when in the dog areas.
The Messenger Marsh area has many family-friendly activities on offer. Shelters and benches are housed throughout the property. There are also multi-purpose trails which are well-suited to horseback riding. Messenger Marsh is also a haven for many different species of wildlife.
