The enclosures themselves are built into a hill. The tiered setting provides additional interest as well as exercise opportunities for Fido and his friends to enjoy. Access to this public park is free of charge. There are no bathroom facilities on-site; however, a fresh water supply is available to assist with keeping Fido well-hydrated during his park visit.
This tranquil setting is enhanced by plentiful trees which offer shaded areas for a relaxing afternoon in the park. Also located throughout the designated dog areas are tables and benches suitable for resting and observing dogs at play. Food is permitted within the park, but care must be exercised when taking any edible items into the enclosures themselves. Beverages in glass containers are strictly forbidden.
Park officials strictly prohibit the use of prong, choke, or spike collars in the dog runs. It is also required that all dogs be current on vaccinations and bear the appropriate required state licensing tag on their collars. Under New York state law, owners are required to carry proof of immunizations and licensing with them at all times. Failure to produce the paperwork upon request results in a fine.
Complimentary poop bags are provided on site. Owners are asked to promptly pick up and dispose of all canine waste materials. Visitors to Morningside Park Dog Run do note that the poop bag dispensers are sometimes empty. For this reason, it is recommended that all owners bring poop bags with them.
