Mount D.O.R.A. Dog Park is an off-leash dog park in the City of Mount Dora, Florida. This D.O.R.A. or dog off-leash recreational area is located in the Lincoln Avenue Community Park. There are spaces for parking vehicles on the roadside and just a short walk through the trees from the off-leash area. The Mount D.O.R.A. Dog Park occupies a sizeable section of the thirty-five-acre community park.
Pet parents taking their cherished four-legged fur babies here don't need to worry about safety. The Mount D.O.R.A. Dog Park has been enclosed with eight-foot chain link to provide a secure environment for off-leash exercising. It's nicely grassed though some spots would benefit from reseeding. There's triple segregation by size at this dog park as it has compounds for large, medium and small dogs.
Owners are responsible for making sure they chose the correct section and that their dog keeps company with pooches of its own size. Other than sniffing at the grass and each other, the dogs have got a few trees to pique their interest and proper doggy water fountains to drink from. There are more trees outside the perimeter fences which help keep the off-leash areas shady and which also give the dog park a rustic, woodland look.
While the Mount D.O.R.A. Dog Park does look a little countrified, it is not a pig pen, so there's no reason for poop to be left to fertilize the ground. Dog poo is a contaminant and needs to be picked up, bagged in environmentally friendly, biodegradable poop bags and put in the nearest trash.
A pup owner being comfortably seated in the dog park pavilion doesn't serve as an excuse for not picking up their pup's feces. Neither should it prevent them keeping a close eye on what their pet is doing. Dogs can get up to mischief as quick as a human can blink. Rough play between dogs can turn into a fight quicker than a text message can be sent on a cell phone, so always be vigilant and every canine will be able to enjoy some fun time in the dog park.
