There are separate areas in this nearly one-acre park for small dogs (25 pounds and under) and large dogs (26 pounds and over), each with their own double gated entrance. The pups also have access to a water fountain to quench their thirst after playing. In addition to the benches around the park, there are also shaded coverings so you can stay out of the sun. Other amenities to help the two-legged friends include dog poop bags, so be sure to clean up after your pup.
Make sure your dog is healthy and up-to-date on his vaccinations and is wearing his collar with ID tag and rabies vaccination tag. Your dog should be able to respond to your call and not be aggressive. In addition, you should never leave your dog unattended while you are at the park.
The dog park entrance is on Salisbury Drive and adjacent to Stewart Avenue. There is a parking lot that accommodates approximately 30 cars and is just outside the park. While Eisenhower Park is a beautiful, 900-acre park and tempting to walk through with Fido, leashed dogs are only allowed to walk on the East side of Park Boulevard from Hempstead Turnpike to the Merrick Avenue entrance. Don't let your dog on the West side of Park Boulevard. If you're unsure of where to walk, contact Eisenhower Park Nassau County for their specific guidelines.
