New Hartford Dog Park (at Sherrill Brook Park)

The New Hartford Dog Park located at Sherrill Brook Park is also known as the Sherrillbrook Park Dog Run. This beautiful park is an excellent place to bring your dog to run off-leash. Dog owners need to fill out an application at the Town Parks and Recreation Office which is conveniently located inside Sherrillbrook Park. Bring along proof of vaccinations and license for your dog, along with the fee of $35 for residents or $75 for non-residents. 

This annual fee covers access to the exclusive New Hartford Dog Park. Pet parents enter the park with an electronic key that is only given to approved applicants. Pet owners are held responsible for their dog’s behavior at all times. Dogs that show aggression towards others need to be removed from the dog park by their pet parent on a leash. 

Avoid allowing an aggressive dog to run outside of the designated area without a leash. All dog bites towards humans and other dogs need to be reported to the park office. However, pet parents need to resolve the issue between themselves respectfully. The park is fenced-in and has plenty of trees that provide shade for dogs and pet parents to rest under on a hot weather day. 

There is plenty of space to play a game of fetch with your dog but there are no balls available so you have to bring your own. Dog breeds that require a large amount of exercise will benefit from visiting the New Hartford Dog Park since it provides plenty of freedom to run and play as much as they need. 

Overall, the New Hartford Dog Park located at Sherrill Brook Park is an excellent dog park that provides a safe environment for dogs to run off-leash. Remember to bring along water, a small bowl, and doggie poop bags to clean up after your dog. Also, do not forget to bring a ball or Frisbee if you want to play with your dog.
