Nickerson Dog Park is pleased to offer a space where dogs can enjoy off-leash play. However, with proper safety precautions in mind, owners are obliged to ensure they have access to a lead. Additionally, dogs are welcome in all sections of Nickerson Park when on a lead with the exception of the sand dunes and beach area.
Access to Nickerson Dog Park is permitted only to those who purchase a parking pass for the day. Parking passes are $35 for those who do not possess a "Leisure Pass" and $13 for those who do. Leisure Passes, which permit entrance into many of Long Island's recreational attractions, are available at a cost of $32 annually. Yearly parking passes can be purchased at a cost of $100 for Leisure Pass holders and $265 for all others.
The dog run area at Nickerson Dog Park is well-equipped to ensure Fido has lots of things to keep him occupied. Found in the enclosures is agility equipment, tennis balls, water access, and poop bags. Rakes and shovels are also provided to assist owners with the proper cleanup of all canine waste. For the comfort of all owners, picnic tables are included in the play spaces.
Bathrooms are accessible to the public at the beach property. Nickerson Park offers all of the amenities a family could possibly need for a day of fun at the beach. Housed on the premises is a beach, skate park, basketball and tennis courts, a baseball diamond, pools, and a concession stand. Nickerson Park is also a popular camping spot. Campsites are available as are cabanas and cabinets.
Due to the popularity of the cabanas, rentals operate on a lottery system. To ensure the safety of all dogs from the spread of disease, vaccinations are required as is a city dog license. For a day of fun in the New York sun, plan a trip to Nickerson Dog Park!
