The dog park is primarily covered in grass, but there are some sections where there is more dirt. The park is lacking in trees, but there's a pavilion-type structure to keep you protected from the elements. If it gets too hot, you and Fido can sit under there and take a break from all the fun.
Before you go to the park, make sure Fido is up-to-date on all his vaccinations and is in good health. You must always have your eyes on your dog and he must be able to respond to your call. Help keep the park clean by picking up after your pup with the bags you bring from home. Make sure your dog interacts well with other dogs, as the park rules state that you should not take dogs who cannot play nice to the park.
If you and your four-legged friend go exploring on a leash outside the dog park, be sure to stay on the two foot-trails. There are barns with livestock and machinery that is not safe for visitors to be around and visitors are not allowed near the main barn area. To get to the park from Delmar Avenue, turn left onto Mill Road, which is just before the bridge to Delmar, and then drive all the way back to the community garden and dog park.
