The North End Avenue Islands Dog Park can be located in the White Hall neighborhood of New York City. The dog park does not have a parking lot. Vehicle parking can be found on the surrounding streets. This is a small, but well-maintained dog run in a very urban area.
The off-leash area has been surfaced with concrete and is fully enclosed with concrete blocks, which provide seating for pet owners, as well as high metal railings. There is a separate section for small dogs. Both sections are quite narrow but afford just enough freedom of space for a dog to be able to have some decent exercise.
There is one double gated staging area which gives access to both sections. Dogs must be kept on a leash until safely inside the staging area as there is a lot of traffic on the nearby streets. Both a dog-friendly water fountain and a hose have been installed in the dog park.
Pet owners using the facility are requested to abide by the dog park rules. Any dog showing signs of aggression or bad behavior should be removed from the off-leash area. Any dog which is known to be aggressive must be removed from the dog park when other dogs enter.Ā
In addition, it is not permitted for any dog to be either left unattended or to be tied up inside under any circumstance. Any child entering the off-leash area must be closely supervised by a responsible adult.Ā Pet owners are required to remove all fecal matter produced by their dogs. They should carry their own supply of poop bags and deposit used ones in the on-site containers.Ā
The off-leash areas at theĀ North End Avenue Islands Dog ParkĀ are hosed down twice daily by the local parks authorities and disinfected once a week unless the temperatures fall below freezing. Owners are requested to assist in keeping the dog park clean and safe for all users to enjoy.
