The North Loop Dog Park is a 6,000 square foot fenced-in space for your pooch to run around and meet new pups. Designed and built by Dog Grounds, a nonprofit dedicated to making off-leash space accessible for dogs in the downtown Minneapolis area, this park features space for your pup to run with the pack or chase his own tail if they choose.
This awesome dog park is designed as a long stretch of land, which is perfect for your pup to do some sprinting and get out the doggie zoomies. It is also great for playing some fetch or Frisbee. The fenced-in area is primarily dirt and gravel, so be ready for their paws to be a little dusty when they are done.
There are also some large rocks for your dog to sniff around and trees are on the outside of the fence, but still provide a little shade if it's hot out. For the humans, there are some benches for the humans to sit down. Dog Grounds advertises a few rules for your visit to the park: don't stay past closing time (approximately 10 PM), pick up after your dog, and make sure they are obedient.
In addition, you should make sure to clean up after your pup with poop bags that you brought from home and throw it out in one of the garbage cans. Make sure your dog can respond to your call and command, and that they are not aggressive. Always keep your dog on-leash until they are within the double-gated entry of the park.
Possibly the most significant rule for you and your pup to enter the North Loop Dog Park or any dog park in Minneapolis is that your dog must be licensed and up-to-date on his vaccinations. Additionally, your dog must have an off-leash dog permit.
You can get these through the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board and the Animal Care and Control Websites, or visit the Dog Grounds official site to find the forms. Make sure you comply with all these requirements before taking your dog to an off-leash dog park.
