Henry County in central Georgia is a beautiful place to visit and relax, billing itself as “comfortably south of Atlanta.” There are plenty of open fields where you, your family, and your dog can roam free and enjoy a slow day. North Mt. Carmel Park is the county’s largest public space, complete with a dog park where you and your dog can enjoy some sunshine and playtime.
The park has just about every facility that you could want in a dog day. There are dog toys available for public use and an obstacle course that you and your dog can navigate together. When you start to feel tired and thirsty, there are benches and shade for you to enjoy, as well as fountains for both you and your dog to drink from.
Restrooms are available for you, and there are poop bags available so that you can pick up after your dog. The flat, open fields are perfect for fetch and other games, and there is plenty of room for everyone who enjoys the park to use.
North Mt. Carmel Bark Park is managed by Henry County and is part of a larger 129-acre complex that hosts soccer games and youth sporting events. The entire park is enclosed, and there are separate fenced areas for small dogs and dogs larger than 25 pounds.
While in the bark park, dogs can run free off-leash, and outside of the park, dogs are permitted to run on a six-foot leash. At the end of a long day of play, the park even offers a rinse station so that your dog can return home relatively clean and fresh.
If you live in the Atlanta area and are looking for a getaway from the hustle and bustle of the city, you should drive a few miles south and check out Henry County. Bring your family and your dog to North Mt. Carmel Bark Park, and everyone is guaranteed a refreshing, good time.
