Nyack Beach State Park

Looking for a new place to walk your canine companion? Then grab the leash and head over to Nyack Beach State Park. Located right on the banks of the Hudson River, this park has puptacular waterfront scenery and is the perfect place to spend some quality time with your pup.

The Nyack River Trail is the main feature of this 61 acre park. It runs parallel to the river and stretches two miles to the north. Run, jog, or walk with your pup along this paved trail to get their heart beat pumping. They’ll love feeling the cool breeze in their fur as they trot along. The pawsome trail is sandwiched between the river and the steep cliffs of the Palisades, so shade is abundant. While on the trail, keep your eyes peeled for hawk and raptor nests.

Although this park is named after a beach, there is actually no swimming allowed for either two legged or four legged visitors due to the pollution in the Hudson River. But it is common to see kayakers or wind surfers launching from the beach. A nice picnic area is provided and there are benches scattered along the trail. Paws for a break and let your dog enjoy the view of the Hudson. 

Rockland Lake State Park, Hook Mountain State Park, and Haverstraw Beach State Park are all nearby. If your pooch is full of energy, tack on a hike in one of these neighboring parks. No matter where you go, make sure you carry some clean up bags and pick up any messes that your pup might leave on the ground. Keep in mind, dogs are not allowed on the Upper Plateau of Nyack Beach State Park. Bring plenty of water for both you and your pup. Above all else, enjoy hanging out with your pal in such a beautiful setting!
