Ochlocknee River State Park

The Ochlocknee River State Park is over 500-acres of beautiful land and features the shorelines of the Ochlocknee River and the Dead River. The park has a plethora of amenities to keep you entertained, including camping, boating, picnic areas, playgrounds, canoeing, canoeing, kayaking, hiking, and bathrooms and showers. Parts of the park are also handicap accessible. 

If you and Fluffy are ready to brave the elements overnight, there are 30 campsites available and all have electricity, a picnic table, water availability, a fire ring, and a clothesline. There are also showers and bathrooms and an outside sink for dish-washing. 

If you're more into primitive camping, you can pitch a tent at the bare-bones campsites along the Dead River. Wherever you camp, make sure your pooch follows your command, is well-behaved, doesn't bother other guests, and he is always on a leash and never left unattended. 

For a day trip, consider hiking one of the two trails at Ochlockneee River State Park. The Ochlocknee River Nature Trail and the Pine Flatwoods Nature Trail are the on-land trails at this park. If you take the Ochlocknee River Nature Trail, you and your pup will get a great view of the river, as this trail follows it. 

This is known as an easy trail, so you and your dog can enjoy the scenery and breath in the fresh air without being out of breath. The Pine Flatwoods Nature Trail goes through the middle of the park and despite its name, you do take on a little bit of elevation. 

There are markers throughout this trail that is over two miles and is well-maintained by the park. Whichever trail you choose, make sure you take some plastic bags with you to clean up after your pup. Also, bring enough water for both you and Fluffy to stay hydrated during your hike.
