Pitner Road Dog Park

If you are a dog lover, there is no better feeling than the moment you are safely in the dog park with your dog, you can feel her trembling with excitement. You lean over and release her leash and she jumps forward in a mix of complete satisfaction and pure joy, the kind of feeling you have not had since you were a child.

Let's face it, human standards are higher than a dog's standards. A dog is just happy to be alive while a person notices (and complains!) about every problem that presents itself. So it's fair to say that a good dog park is more appreciated by the human companion. After all, a dog's good fortune is that she can be happy literally anywhere, while we need nice landscaping and good parking and bathrooms. 

Fortunately, the Pitner Road Dog Park in Acworth, Georgia will make dogs AND their people happy. The Pitner Road Dog Park is relatively new, having been opened in 2010. It's a nice, big dog park, a total of three acres. It has two separate enclosures, one for big dogs, at two acres, and one for small dogs, at one acre. The parks have separate entries.

Both sections of the dog park have grass and wood chips. The enclosures are situated on the edge of a small forest, so the enclosures have a mix of sun and shade. The large section has a wading pool in the summer. Both parts of the dog park have sprinklers that are used on the hottest days. Given the Georgia climate, the sprinklers can be a great relief.

Both sides of the Pitner Road Dog Park have plenty of benches and poop bags. There is also a large playground attached to the park, picnic facilities, and a large pavilion used for community meetings. There Pitner Road may be a dog park first, but it was designed with something for every member of the family.
