PKP Bark Park (at Pendleton King Park)

The PKP Bark Park is a public dog park located at the Pendleton King Park in Augusta, Georgia. In addition to the dog park, the 64-acre community park is home to several playgrounds, beautiful gardens, cross country trails, tennis courts, a golf course, and a lake. The scenic, pine-filled park is also a bird sanctuary.

The one-and-a-half-acre PKP Bark Park was opened in 2009 and has since become a popular destination for dog owners in the community. It is securely fenced and features a small dog area and a large dog run. It is also double-gated which reduces the chance of canine escapes. 

The off-leash dog run is equipped with everything you would want in a dog park, including agility equipment and obstacles for dogs to train on. There are water fountains to keep pooches hydrated and recycled plastic bags that can be found in decorated mailboxes that owners are welcome to use to clean up after their dogs. 

The park's surface consists of woodchips and some sand. There is a kiddie pool in the dog park for canines to splash around and cool off in, just make sure to bring a towel with you to prevent your car from getting messy on the way back home. The park is quite popular, meaning there is always at least a few dogs in the park for your furball to play with, making it a great location for canine socialization and playtime. 

There are also plenty of trees and shaded seating areas which allow owners to remain comfortable and cool while they watch their pooches play and exercise leash-free. If you feel like your dog needs more exercise, take him on one of the many trails that run through the park. Lastly, the dog park hosts a variety of fun canine-themed events throughout the year so make sure to stop by during the Barktoberfest or Woofstock to participate in fun games and get a chance to win pooch prizes.
