Rivanna Trail Off Leash Area (at Riverview Park)

Rivanna Trail Off-Leash Area is located in the 26.6 mile Riverview Park in Charlottesville, Virginia. Though Riverview Park does not contain a designated dog play section, this much-beloved set of trails affords dog owners the opportunity for some off-leash hiking on certain days of the week and on specified portions of the park's trails. Dogs are permitted throughout the entirety of the facility; however, they are to remain on a lead when not in designated off-leash areas. It is important to note that none of the property is fenced. Off-leash dogs must be properly supervised and under complete voice control at all times.

This pristine natural treasure is accessible to the public free of charge. It is unknown if bathroom facilities are available on-site or if a potable water source is provided. For this reason, owners should bring a bottle of water and appropriate drinking vessel with them to help address Fido's hydration needs while enjoying his hike at the park.

Complimentary poop bags are available in various locations throughout the park. Owners are asked to assist park officials in preserving the cleanliness of the park by picking up and properly disposing of all canine waste materials. Though there are no official regulations governing park use, it is highly recommended that all dogs be current on vaccinations.
