The Riverside Dog Park is located behind the Riverside Park in the town of Evans, Georgia. Vehicle parking is readily available in any of the main park's lots. This gorgeous park is an enclosed area which has been designated as an off-leash park for exercising dogs. A pathway leads from the closest parking lot, through some trees, to the dog park. Dogs must remain leashed until properly inside the off-leash area. There is a large staging area for the leashing and unleashing of dogs.
The Riverside Dog Park is a large open space which has been divided into two sections. One part is specifically for small breeds. Both zones are covered with grass. There are a few small trees inside the off-leash area, but they are not large enough to offer shade to pets playing in the park. There are large mature trees around the perimeter of the dog park. The off-leash areas are bordered with above waist height chain link fencing.
Owners are allowed to exercise no more than two dogs at a time. All dog handlers must be sixteen years of age or older. All dogs using the off-leash area must display license and vaccination tags on their collars. It is not permitted to feed dogs inside the off-leash area. This includes dog treats and hide chews. Owners are requested to help keep the park clean by providing their own poop bags and cleaning up after their dogs. Containers have been provided for the disposal of used bags.
A wooden gazebo provides shelter and shade in both areas of the off-leash park. There are also benches for seating in the gazebo and in various other places around the dog park. A water fountain has been installed but pet owners note it can malfunction on occasion so it is recommended to carry bottled water for pet and human consumption plus a drinking bowl for the dogs.Â
