Robert H.Treman State Park

If your pup loves waterfalls and hiking, then plan a trip to Robert H. Treman State Park. Known for its cascading waters, scenic campsites, and wonderful hiking opportunities, this park is the pawfect place to spend some quality time with your furry friend.

Robert H. Treman State Park is set around the beautiful Enfield Gorge and has an upper entrance and lower entrance. Most folks begin hiking from the upper end and travel down the gorge. One of the most pupular features of the park is Lucifer Falls. To get there, hop on the Rim Trail. After a short distance you come to the “Stairway to Heaven,” or the Cliffside Stairs. The stone steps take you from the bottom of the gorge to the Lucifer Falls overlook. Your doggo will be more than impressed with this 115 foot waterfall. Snap a photo with your pal before looping back to the parking lot.

If your pup is looking for a longer route, continue on the Rim Trail until you reach the lower end of the park. Once you arrive, paws for a water and snack break before crossing the creek and looping back to the upper park on the Gorge Trail. All in all it is about a five mile round trip. The trail runs alongside the Enfield Creek and there are plenty of smaller waterfalls along the way that will delight your doggo.

The lower end of the park is known for a large swimming hole. Please note, dogs are not allowed in any of the designated swimming areas. But there are plenty of spots along the creek that they can splash around in. A campground with both RV and tent sites is located in the lower park and restrooms and picnic areas can be found on both ends. Be sure to bring water and clean up bags. This park will definitely make your pup’s tail wag!
