Is your pooch begging for some time in the great outdoors? Then load ‘em up and head over to Rockford Lake State Recreation Area. Sprawling across 300 acres of beautiful Nebraska land, this park features the 150 acre Rockford Lake. Blue skies, rolling hills, and lakeside scenery make this one park your pooch will pawsitively adore!
You’d be right to guess that Rockford Lake is the reason
most folks visit this park. Fishing is a pupular activity, so bring your rod
and reel and cast a line. The lake is teeming with bluegill, bass, carp, and
catfish, so you’re chances of having a fish dinner are pretty high. If you have
a boat, bring it along and cruise around the lake with your pup.
If your dog prefers a land based adventure, then skip the
boating and head straight for the nature trail. At just a mile long, it won’t
tucker out your pooch, but it will let them see the park’s natural beauty.
Plus, they will get some exercise and a chance to fill their lungs with fresh air. Be
sure to carry some clean up bags and stoop and scoop when necessary. Don’t
forget to bring plenty of water for both you and your four legged companion.
Rockford’s furrific campground is a great place to spend
the night with your pal. RV and tent sites are available, so no matter how you
prefer to ruff it, you’ll find the pawfect spot. Primitive restrooms and water
are located in the campground. Unfurtunatley, this place does not have showers.
If a day trip is more your style, pack some burgers and have a cookout in the
picnic area. Here you’ll find dozens of tables and grills and a couple
shelters. Sounds like a woofin’ good place to have a paw-ty!
When it comes to fun in the sun, Rockford Lake
State Recreation Area seriously delivers!
