Rover Run Dog Park (at Schoonmaker Park)

The Rover Run Dog Park is a paid dog park located at the Schoonmaker Park in Illinois. In addition to the dog park, the recreational town park features a baseball field, tennis, and volleyball courts, a softball field, playgrounds, and various walking trails that run throughout the park. 

Dogs are permitted to accompany their owners on the trails as long as they remain leashed. The park also features picnic areas, pavilions, and porta potties which is convenient if you decide you are spending the entire day at the Rover Run Dog Park.

The Rover Run Dog Park opened in July 2005 and has since become a popular destination for off-leash exercise among dog owners living around the neighborhood due to its size and convenient location. It is two-and-a-half acres in size, which gives more than enough space to socialize and exercise without a leash. The dog park has a well-designed, open space layout featuring two off-leash areas. 

The first area is meant for small dog breeds, while the second run accommodates the massive hounds. Both areas are very grassy and have tons of shade thanks to the mature trees that grow inside the dog park and around the fenced areas. The dog park features water bowls, a sheltered picnic area, and strategically placed chairs that have an ample amount of shade for dog owners to cool off in. 

On top of all of the above, the Rover Run is located in a beautiful neighborhood and green setting, making it a relaxing location for one-on-one games of fetch with your canine companion in the morning when the park is quiet or playdates with your four-legged furball and his friends throughout the week in the evening. 

The annual membership fees are $25 per dog for Harlem Township residents and $35 for non-residents, both pay $15 for each additional dog. According to the regular patrons, the dog park is worth the investment, especially if you live in the Harlem Township.
