Access to this park is for registered dogs only. An application must be submitted to the Town of Rye for approval. A $25 yearly fee is also required. All dogs attending the park and beach must be properly licensed and have proof via the appropriate state required license tag. In addition to this, park officials mandate that all dogs be current on vaccinations.
Rye Town Park offers many attractions for families as well. There is a nearby amusement park as well as restaurants and shops to provide a leisurely afternoon of shopping and fun. Bathrooms are available on-site for public use and water suitable for drinking can be obtained on the premises. Owners are encouraged to bring a suitable vessel for their dog's use.
While off-leash play is permitted between the hours of 6 am and 9 am in specified areas, Rye Town Park at Oakland Beach requires that all dogs remain on a lead at all other times of the day. There are no fenced enclosures for dog play at this beachside park. Complimentary poop bags are not available on site. However, it is the responsibility of every owner to carry bags with them to assist with the proper cleanup and disposal of all canine waste materials.
