Samsons Island

The Samsons Island Dog Park (formally known as E. Lorraine Gott Dog Park) is an off-leash dog park on Samsons Island in the City of Satellite Beach, Florida. There are no roads to this lagoon island. All visitors arrive by boat whether it be their own, one they've hired or they are using the free Sunday boat transportation which departs from the Satellite Beach Fire Department at one in the afternoon. 

To take advantage of the free service, it is best to arrive at the departure point early. Places are often limited and are allocated on a first come, first served basis. Visitors to this fifty-two-acre nature reserve and recreational area can enjoy varied activities including fishing, boating and bird watching. For their dogs, there's a one and a half acre off-leash area to expend their energy in. 

On their first visit to the Samsons Island Dog Park, pet owners are required to register. To do this, they need to provide validation of their pup's license and vaccinations. Registration can be done at the dog park, and there is a small usage fee to pay. The cost is $2.50 for up to two dogs who can be accompanied by three people or $3.50 if family numbers exceed three people or two dogs. 

Outside of the designated off-leash area dogs must be kept leashed. This dog park facility on Samson Island has been well thought out and has been split into two enclosures to provide different spaces for specific sizes of dogs. No dog over twenty-five pounds is permitted in the small dog compound. There's a pup wash station for hosing down muddy pups and picnic tables for owners though no food is permitted in the off-leash areas. 

All dog owners are required to keep an eye on their dogs while exercising them in this dog park on Samsons Island as they will be socializing with unknown canines. Another must for canine parents is scooping the poop. Contamination is easily spread to the rest of the nature reserve if pup poop is not picked up promptly.
