Scoville Park

Enjoy a beautiful day out with your pupper at Scoville Park! Set in the heart of the town of Oak Park, this contemporary village green is a furrific spot for walking and hanging out with your four-legged pal!

Like all parks in the city, Scoville welcomes furry visitors as long as they remain on a leash no longer than 8 feet. Take your canine buddy for a stroll on the paved pathways that meander through the site and travel past flowering trees, grassy areas, welcoming benches, and significant monuments. One such structure is the World War I “Peace Triumphant” Monument, which you and your pooch will find in the central plaza.

If you and Fido follow the path along the perimeter of the park about 3 times, you will have covered 1 mile. Need to tire your dog out? Go up and down the small, natural hill south of the plaza to burn off their energy. If you'd rather take it easy, there are several spots to sit in the shade or on the grass. Read a book, connect to the park's free Wi-Fi, or just watch the world go by. During the summer months, Scoville hosts free concerts and movie nights for everyone to enjoy. There is no pre-registration required; just show up with a blanket and picnic, and enjoy a good flick or musical performance with your best friend by your side.

Named to the National Register of Historic Places, Scoville also features a children's playground, three tennis courts, drinking fountains, and restrooms. It is conveniently surrounded by several restaurants and cafes with outdoor seating, so you and Fido can easily grab a bite to eat before or after your stroll. Be sure to bring mutt mitts and always pick up after your pup!
