A 1.5-acre park for doggos, Sellwood Riverfront Park Off-Leash Area lies within Sellwood Riverfront Park in Portland, OR. Located on the park's west side adjacent to the Willamette River, the doggy playground offers lots of open space for pups to socialize, wrestle, race, and fetch.  Or you and your fur baby can chill out in the shade under one of the many trees.

Just a few feet from the OLA, the river calls to pet parents and their four-legged pals to have a swim. It's important to know that the water around Sellwood Park has periodically grown toxic algae, which can make your pupper sick. Updated notifications on social media will keep you up to date.

When the water's safe, doggos can sprint on the beach, gamely fetch tennis balls from the river, and drench their humans with one body shake. You don't need a Portuguese Water Dog or Labrador Retriever to share the river with your pup. Pet parents should bring water for themselves and their furry besties, as well as waste bags, as these are not provided in the dog park. Be sure to note that the Sellwood Riverfront Park OLA is not enclosed with a fence. If your pup isn't adept at obeying basic commands like "Come," they may be in danger of getting lost or hurt. And in the absence of a separate small dog area attention must be paid to the action on the field to prevent your petite pooch from getting bumped or run over.

Sellwood Riverfront OLA is ideal for well-behaved, non-aggressive dogs to get some exercise and run free. They must be licensed and vaccinated as well as spayed or neutered to be allowed into the OLA.
