Sky Meadows State Park

Sky Meadows State Park is a scenic property of historical significance in Delaplane, Virginia. Housed on 1,860 acres of property, this dog-friendly facility is a destination hotspot for history buffs and nature lovers alike. Though there is no designated dog play area at Sky Meadows State Park, dogs are welcome to join their owners on all trails provided they remain on a lead of no more than six feet in length. 

There are no on-site amenities available for dogs on the premises. To ensure Fido has access to a cool drink when needed, owners should bring drinking water and a dog dish with them from home. It is expected that all dog owners will clean up after their pets, and thus, they should carry poop disposal bags with them at all times. Sky Meadows State Park is a public recreational space. 

It is not known if a fee is required to enter the property; however, a parking fee of $5 is mandatory. This stunning historic property is dedicated to paying homage to its rich heritage of colonial-era farming practices in the Crooked Run Valley. The park is housed on what was formerly an operational farm in colonial times. The land itself is characterized by verdant pasture, florid woodlands, and natural terrain. 

Visitors to the Sky Meadows State Park space may choose from 10.5 miles of equestrian trails, 22 miles of hiking trails, and nine miles of trailheads designed with biking in mind. This property also provides entrance to the well-renowned Appalachian Trails. For those wishing to enjoy a light lunch on the grounds, picnic tables are situated in various different locales. 

Other recreational opportunities to enjoy at Sky Meadows State Park include hiking, fishing, picnicking, and rustic-style camping. Bathrooms are available for public use on the grounds.
