To completely peruse the gardens at your leisure with Fido by your side will take a total of three hours. Check out the Pollinator Garden where pollinating insects flit between beautiful flowers selected just for them. The Kathrine Dulin Folger Rose Garden near Smithsonian Castle features annuals, perennials, herbs and tropical foliage throughout the year, but is especially special between May and November when the roses rule! For some history, stroll through the Victory Garden which features the types of vegetable gardens common during World War II, or go back to an even earlier time with the Native Landscape at the National Museum of the American Indian to see the land as it was before European immigration.Â
The Smithsonian Gardens are also a pawsome place to enjoy a relaxing picnic lunch. You'll want to pack a basket from home with all the things you and Fido love including snacks, drinking water, and cleanup bags. To preserve the beauty of this doggone amazing park space, be sure to pick up after your doggo and to properly dispose of their waste in the provided trash receptacles. The park officials will thank you for your help, for sure!
