Soule Recreation Center Off-leash Dog Area is part of the Brookline Parks Green Dog Program. The City of Brookline in Massachusetts understands the growing need for dogs to socialize and have off-leash time, so they came up with an innovative plan to offer off-leash hours at various parks around the community in order to meet pet owners needs. To participate in this program you must register at the Brookline Parks and Recreation Department and pay a $50 annual fee.
The fee allows you to go to any of the 14 parks that are involved in the Green Dog program. Also, the fee goes to keeping up with park maintenance, park improvements and to oversee the Green Dog program. Keep in mind that this program benefits everyone. It gives dogs wonderful places to go and socialize and to get in some good exercise while it also allows park goers time to enjoy the park and hang out with friends.
Soule Recreation Park is a county park with fields, playground equipment, and nice areas to sit. The designated off-leash times at this park are from sunrise until 9:00 AM. Dogs are allowed in the park after off-leash times, however, they must remain on-leash and are not allowed on playground equipment.
Dogs should be up to date on all vaccinations and have the proper license and tags. Dogs also need to have an up to date rabies shot per Massachusetts law. The park does ask that you clean up after your pet and help keep the parks clean and free of trash. There is a limit of three dogs off-leash per person and dogs should be familiar with voice commands.
All in all, this is a wonderful program and Soule Park is just one of the many Brookline parks that participate in the program. You and your dog will love exploring Soule Recreation Center Off-leash Dog Area and enjoy the off-leash time.
