The St. Croix and Kettle Rivers offer both smooth waters as well as rapids, making them an ideal spot for canoeing. St. Croix State Park welcomes dogs to join their owners on the grounds of their beautiful facility; however, they must remain leashed at all times. At this time, there is not a specific area reserved for dog play nor is there any drinking water available on the grounds.Â
Owners must bring all of the things with them required for a great day at the park including bottled water and poop bags. Park officials expect all owners to display responsible pet ownership by cleaning up after their dogs. St. Croix State Park is a public recreational area and camping facility, and entrance to the grounds is free of charge.Â
However, parking is only available with a permit. Parking permits cost $35 and are valid for one full calendar year. Also housed on the grounds for families to enjoy is the St. Croix State forest as well as several horse campgrounds. Other recreational opportunities including hiking, snowmobiling, cross-country skiing, horseback riding, picnicking, sightseeing, fishing, biking, and swimming.Â
For avid birdwatchers, this area is home to many different species of wildlife and birds. There are also many nature trails for Fido and his family to explore. Campsites are available by reservation only, and it is not known what the associated costs may be to procure one.Â
St. Croix State Park supports all Minnesota law, and as such, it is required that all canine visitors be current on immunizations. A city dog license is also mandatory. For a great time at a beautiful Minnesota state park, plan to visit St. Croix State Park!Â
