Leashed dogs are welcome on hiking trails as long as they remain by their owner’s side at all times. The hiking trails are great and offer incredible views such as beautiful waterfalls and canyons. Bring along poop bags for your dog and make sure you clean up after them immediately. Also, carry fresh water and some snacks for your dog because most of the trails are long.Â
The Starved Rock State Park offers pet-friendly camping sites. Dogs need to weight 50 pounds or less. Two dogs need to be the combined weight of 50 pounds. There is a special doggy menu available at the outdoor veranda. Owners can take their furry best friend along on all the hiking trails, including the guided tours. You can’t leave your dog alone at the campsite.Â
Your dog can stay in their crate inside a cabin for up to two hours or less. Pet owners are required to sign a dog policy liability form at check-in. Always bring along the things your dog needs most such as food, treats, and water but never leave them outside because it will attract wildlife which could be dangerous. Overall, this is a beautiful park that you can visit and have lots of fun with your dog.Â
