Description

Picture a dog park in New England. There is a stone wall, isn't there?  Come on, admit it-nothing says New England like "stone wall." Well, maybe lobster dinners. But you will not find one of those in a dog park, no matter what region of the country it's in. Stodder's Neck Park is a thin strip of land that sticks out in the ocean.

In New England, the peninsula is referred to as a neck. Stodder's Neck is in Hingham, Massachusetts, and is surrounded on three sides by water, and on the fourth side by a stone wall. It is an absolutely beautiful location. In fact, it is consistently ranked as one of the best in Massachusetts for its glorious setting.

The Stodder's Neck Dog Park is a very large park,  about five acres. There is a very large hill, as well as beach areas, trees, and benches. There is a wide trail that goes around the edge of the park. Literally speaking, the park is not fenced. However, the water serves as a natural barrier.

It is a great place for a dog to go for a swim in the summer. There is a low stone fence between the park and the parking lot. Just outside the gate, there's a water fountain for both people and dogs. There are water fountains for the dogs in the park, and a number of poop bags and trash cans.

There is also a lot of benches for people, and a couple of picnic tables, though glass bottles are not allowed. Because of the wood, and the proximity of the ocean, Stodder's Neck is a great place for bird watchers, and in the summer, there are often as many bird watchers as there are dog people.

There are also hikers, joggers, and photographers, which is a testament to the natural beauty of the area. There is a sign at the gate of the Stodder's Neck Dog Park that advises that dogs have to be leashed when in the park, but this regulation is often overlooked.

Still, you should be aware that the Stodder's Neck Dog Park does not have a double gate entry, meaning that it could be quite easy for a dog to get out while you are entering. Additionally, you can be given a ticket for not having your dog on a leash so keep your pooch leashed to prevent any problems.

Wag! does not allow or encourage Pet Care Providers to bring dogs to parks.
