There is no designated dog play area nor are there any dog amenities on site. Owners must bring drinking water and poop bags with them. Owners need to clean up after their furbuddies and properly dispose of their waste materials. Temperance River State Park is a public recreational center and campground. Access to the premises is provided free of charge.
However, the camping areas are by reservation only and are fee-based. It is not known what the costs are. This incredible property boasts of many great activities for families to enjoy. Among the recreational opportunities are rock climbing, fishing, hiking, camping, and picnicking. Swimming in Temperance Lake is not encouraged as there have been eight recorded deaths in 20 years due to the water's extremely strong currents.
There are on-premise splash pads for those looking to cool off from the heat of the day. Temperance River State Park is also home to beach and picnic areas as well as numerous trails. The terrain is varied meandering through cobblestone shore sections, waterfalls, and even the famous sandbar-less North Shore, a local phenomenon.
There is also access to the beautiful Lake Superior whose waters are more conducive to water sports and swimming. The landscape itself is quite rocky in places. Carleton Peak is also a favorite locale for rock climbing, hiking, and snowshoeing (in season).
