Located as it is inside LeDroit Park, there are plenty of opportunities for you and your fur-baby to clip on that leash and explore the larger park, but for Fido, the unleashed dog run is where the action is. Once you and your pooch have passed inside the second security gate, the excitement has already built, and if there are a few puppers to play with, controlled mayhem will ensue! Balls, frisbees and other toys get flung, doggoes fetch them, ready to charge after them as they're flung again!Â
The dog park is maintained by a neighborhood volunteer, non-profit group, and you won't find a single reason to criticize its cleanliness and amenities. The Board is very active, and while they'd rather not clean up waste, they will. Such commitment to the pups of the neighborhood! Be sure not to take advantage and clean up Fido's waste! Waste bags are supplied along with handy DogiPot disposal containers.Â
The gates are locked at dark to avoid any hanging about at night, and unlocked at opening time in the morning. Please don't attempt to jump the fence during closed hours, although your pooch might be able to do so with ease! Bring some water to share with your thirsty pup too!
If you live in one of Washington's NW neighborhoods, LeDroit Park is an easy stroll that will supply your fur-baby with socialization, exercise and just plain fun! Who knows? You might enjoy some socialization with the other humans, too!Â
