There is a section for dogs with shoulders less than 18 inches across and is labeled "The Linder Tire Small Dog Service." Another section dubbed "Emma's Run" is for dogs who are not completely comfortable at dog parks yet or are being trained in groups or individually. The "Lucky Pawz Playground" is the largest section and has both paved paths and shelters. If you have a pup who loves the water, there is even a 15-foot deep pond just for him to swim and splash in. This area is called "Lily's Pond" and is fenced off. Dogs can only swim when the weather is suitable.
The park is accessible through a double-gated entry, and there are garbage cans near the gates so you can easily dispose of any poop bags. The park is mostly grass and has paved trails. The park has a lot of sun exposure and only has a few young trees so there is some shade, but not a lot. Near the pond, there are more trees to keep you cool.
Shelters with benches are available in the park so you can sit out of the elements. Porta-potties are near the parking lot. To enter the park, you can purchase a day pass for $5 per dog, or City of Iowa City residents can purchase an annual pass for $40; $45 for non-residents. All dogs must be vaccinated and licensed with tags to enter the park. Fines up to $100 can be assessed if dog park visitors do not adhere to these policies.
