Though this dog playground is a designated off-leash area, owners are still required to have easy access to a lead as a safety precaution. Tom Bass Dog Park takes its name from the local hero Thomas Hutcheson Bass, a U.S. Army Reserve Officer, and State Representative. A man invested in his community and with a heart for pets, this dedicated dog facility was named in his honor.
The Tom Bass Dog Park is a public dog playground, and entrance to its premises is permitted at no cost. The dog runs house a walking trail as well as some agility equipment, water access, and dog showers. Bathrooms are situated on the grounds for public use. Complimentary poop bags are also available. It is the responsibility of all dog owners visiting Tom Bass Dog Park to promptly clean up after their pets.Â
Tom Bass Regional Park also has much to offer families visiting the area. Divided into three different sections, each portion of the park has something fun for families to do. Section one is home to the dog park. Also housed in this section are a disc golf course, a gazebo, picnic areas, a playground, tennis courts, and bathrooms.Â
Section two boasts of a full 18-hole golf course, and a model airplane field. The last field, Section three, offers visitors the chance to visit a community center or to enjoy some fishing off the pier. Also available in this section of the park are trails and volleyball courts.
Tom Bass Dog Park does have a few regulations owners must abide by. Food and drink are strictly forbidden in the dog runs. Additionally, all dogs must be current on vaccinations and be licensed with their city. Identification tags as well as proof of a city dog license must be worn on your dog's collar.
