Tom Brown Dog Park is a public dog park located within the 255-acre Tom Brown City Park in Tallahassee, Florida. It is the largest recreation park in the area and offers a variety of amenities in addition to the dog park. With baseball fields, tennis courts, a BMX Bike Track, a Disc Golf Course and so much more, canine family members won’t be the only ones to fall in love with this beautiful, wooded park.
The off-leash dog park is located along the southern end of the park, close to Lake Leon and various nature trails. It consists of two off-leash areas for dogs to freely run around and play in, with a spacious area for bigger breeds and a separate, small area for the little canine companions. Both areas have a double-gated entry system that helps minimize the risk of pooches slipping out. However, if you have a dog that loves to jump over fences, you will have to keep a close eye on him as the fences aren’t very tall.
The park’s terrain is mostly flat, with some gentle slopes, as well as sandy and grassy areas. Tall, mature tree line the park and provide plenty of shade, especially in the big dog enclosure. There are also water fountains, water spigots, and kiddie pools which enable dogs to remain hydrated but also get quite dirty so make sure to bring a towel for your dog’s paws. Dog waste bag dispensers are usually filled and there are several trash cans by the entrances of both areas.
Seating isn’t usually a problem since there are several shaded benches, however, the park does get crowded on the weekends. The Tom Brown Dog Park is conveniently located within walking distance to the parking lot, public restrooms, playgrounds, and picnic areas. Take a scenic walk with your pooch on-leash and enjoy the beautiful landscape that surrounds the dog park.
