The Trantina Farm Dog Park is a public dog park located at the Trantina Farm in Homer Glen, Illinois. In addition to the dog park, the 50-acre farm is home to historic buildings, gardens, playgrounds, picnic areas, and public restrooms. All of these amenities can be found on the northern side of the farm.
The two-acre Trantina Farm Dog Park was opened in September 2008 and has since become a favorite within the dog owners in the community for canine meetups and off-leash exercise. It can be found on the southern side of the farm, along with a spacious parking lot and some scenic trails that run around the dog park. The groomed trails are open to dogs, horses, and humans.
The dog park is securely fenced and has a wide, well-thought-out, open space layout that consists of two separate areas. One section is meant for dogs under 30 pounds while the other dog run is great for the large dog breeds. Both offer plenty of space for dogs to run, play, exercise and socialize together leash-free. However, there aren't many trees growing in either of the sections so finding shade can be a problem.
Since there are no drinking fountains in the dog park, owners need to bring their own water bottles to make sure their canines are staying hydrated throughout their visit. Though the dog park gets busy on the weekends, it is never crowded throughout the week. This makes it an ideal location for timid dogs, scheduled playdates or training sessions with your pooch.
Make sure to check out the native prairie and the limestone trail if you visit this wonderful dog park as the nature paths feature scenic views of green hills and wildlife. Just make sure to clean up after your dog and keep the Trantina Dog Farm Dog Park poop-free.
