If your pooch needs some adventure in their life, load ‘em up and head on over to Two Rivers State Recreation Area. This state recreation area sits in the eastern region of Nebraska and is the pawfect spot to spend some quality time with your furry companion. After just a few minutes at this park, you’ll see why it’s one of the most pupular recreation areas in the Cornhusker State.
Not only does the recreation area rest on the banks of
the Platte River, it also has seven lakes within its boundaries. Plus, the Elkhorn River is just a bone’s throw
away. With access to all this water, you
can imagine that this is a pupular spot for anglers. Bring your rod and reel
along and see if you can catch a whopper. Either fish from the shore or take
advantage of the fishing pier at Lake #5.
When you’re finished fishing, reward your patient pup
with a hike along the park’s nature trail. They’ll love trotting through the
natural setting while feeling the warm sun on their back. Don’t forget to bring some cold water along.
The trail is only a mile, but that’s enough to make your pup thirsty. And be
sure to have some clean up bags on hand.
Two Rivers State Recreation Area has plenty of camping
spots for those who like to ruff it. Sites are available for both RVs and
tents, and most have electrical hookups. And don’t worry, modern restrooms and
hot showers are located in the campground. So you can stay smelling puptastic
during your stay! The park has 10 Union Pacific cabooses that have been
converted into cabins. Unfurtunately, doggos are not allowed in these pawsome
abodes. But it’s worth taking a walk through Caboose Park with your pooch so
they can see the train cars.
Two Rives State Recreation Area will definitely make
your pup’s tail wag!
