Situated near Copan, Oklahoma, Wah-Sha-She State Park is located on the scenic shores of Lake Hulah. The park’s name means “The Water People” from the Osage Indians tribe. The park is very popular for the excellent fishing it offers and various water sports, such as boating and water skiing, visitors can do in its small lake.
The Hulah Wildlife Management Area surrounds the area. Dogs of all sizes are welcome to the park, as long as they are on a leash and always supervised by their pet parents. Some of the facilities and amenities offered at the park are lighted boat ramps and loading docks, which give convenient access to Lake Hulah.
People who love to fish will be delighted to know that they can find a variety of fish species in the lake. Some of these include crappie, bullhead catfish, largemouth bass, white bass, and channel catfish, so bring on your best fishing game and do not forget your fishing gear when headed to the park.
Hunting is also something that is plentiful in the adjacent Wildlife Management Area, which is a waterfowl refuge for individuals who love to observe birds so pack your binoculars too. The hiking trails, where you can take Spike with you, is nearby the waterfowl refuge, so you get the chance to immerse yourself in the area’s scenic natural setting.
If you love the outdoors and would love to extend your stay a bit longer, you can reserve one of the 47 semi-modern RV sites which have modern conveniences such as electricity and water. However, if you are feeling adventurous, you can rent one of their tent sites. Other things at the park include are modern comfort stations, enclosed picnic shelter, group picnic shelters, a swimming beach, and a playground for the tiny tots.
