Description
Pups in Huntington are lucky indeed, for they have two off leash dog runs right inside the West Hills County Park just for them! This lushly forested park offers tons of space for pawrific hikes and outdoor adventures, but your dog will be just thrilled to visit one of two dog parks right inside where off leash play is the name of the game.

If your pup is a small dog under 26 pounds, check out the West Hills Small Dog Run. This fenced-in space is a third of an acre, but has plenty of room for your pup to go wild off leash! Right off of Highhold Drive, this small run is pawfect for the little guys, and offers water fountains for the pups, and benches for you! With waste bag stations and trash cans on site, cleaning up whatever your dog lays down is easy. You can find convenient parking right across the street in a gravel lot.

If your doggo is larger than 26 pounds, then head over the the West Hills Large Dog Run, off of Sweet Hollow Road. Parking is located right next to this off leash, fenced-in space. At almost 2 acres, the large run features a double gated entry for extra pup security. Just like the small dog run, the space is mostly covered with dirt and grass, and can get a little muddy when it rains. There are also benches for you to relax on while the big dogs cavort. Water fountains for the energetic pups are on site, as are clean-up bag dispensers, and garbage cans for convenient disposal.

In addition to the dog park, the West Hills County Park offers hiking trails, camping areas, picnic grounds, and horseback riding. If your dog wants to explore the trails or anything else outside the designated dog runs, you'll need to put the leash back on. Always have clean-up bags on hand and stoop and scoop wherever you travel.

Accessing the West Hills County Park Dog Run between Memorial Day and Labor Day is $13 to park without a Green Key, and $6 with a Green Key. Green Keys run $30 for Suffolk County residents and $200 for non-residents and give you discounted access to several parks throughout the county.

For a truly puptastic afternoon is the lush forests of Hungington, New York, you and your pup will love the dog runs at the West Hills County Park!

Wag! does not allow or encourage Pet Care Providers to bring dogs to parks.
