Here, dogs can enjoy a play style better suited to their size, personality, and health condition. The volunteer group responsible for raising the funds for this beloved dog play haven shares a vision for off-leash play zones for all dogs to enjoy.
However, to ensure the safety of all dogs visiting the play areas, it is important for owners to always have ready access to a leash. Though dogs are permitted to frolic off-lead in Winchester Dog Park, they must remain leashed in all areas of Jim Barnett Park.
Winchester Dog Park is a members-only dog play space, and entrance to the grounds is fee-based. Visitor passes are available, but the cost to obtain one is not known. For residents of Winchester, a yearly pass can be purchased for $18 with a $6 fee for each subsequent dog.
Non-residents can also procure yearly passes but at the slightly higher rate of $24 for the first dog and $8 for each subsequent. Winchester Dog Park places the maximum number of dogs allowed per family at three dogs. In addition to this, there must be one handler per dog present at all times.
Winchester Dog Park offers a bare-bones dog playground with ample space for dogs to run and play. There are plenty of trees to provide shade; however, neither water nor poop bags are available on-site. Owners should bring a water bottle, a dog dish, and poop bags with them from home to ensure they have all that they need at the park.
Nearby Jim Barnett Park offers many great attractions for families to enjoy including picnic areas which house grills for public use. Also available on the property are indoor and outdoor pool areas, a fishing lake, trails, a disc golf course, tennis courts, a BMX bike track, and much more.
Dogs visiting this space are required to be current on vaccinations and to bear a current city dog license tag on their collars. For a fun time in a park with much to offer Fido and the whole family, plan a trip to Winchester Dog Park!
