Zollie Young Dog Park

Panama City, Florida, on the Gulf of Mexico, is a tourist destination. And while there are long, white, sugar sand beaches to spend sunny days, there is no end of places to spend money, like bars, restaurants, amusement parks. So it's a nice respite to find a good city park, like Zollie Young Park. 

It's hard to find information about who Zollie Young was, but there's a park named after him or her in Panama City, Florida. But whoever Zollie Young was, he or she inspired a very nice park. Zollie Young's park has a football field, a tennis court, a baseball diamond, and a playground, so the usual things you would find in a park. But there's also a concession stand, and a dog park. 

Zollie Young Dog Park in Panama City, Florida does not have a lot of bells and whistles. But it's large and well-fenced, which means a lot in an area that has frequent bouts of dramatic weather such as tropical storms. The soil is sandy, reflecting the nearby beach, and because of the sandy nature of the ground, the dog park is well-drained. 

However, the sand can gather in your dog's paws and fur. So there is a dog wash just outside of the park gate so you can get your dog clean before getting back into the car. The Zollie Young Dog Park does have other amenities. There are plenty of poop bags, and trash is picked up regularly. 

There are plenty of trees in the park and surrounding the park, so it is quite shady and relatively cool in the summer. The park has plenty of seating, including benches and picnic tables. The Zollie Young Dog Park has a lot of exposed tree roots, but there is a low wooden bridge and deck that goes over the lowest points of the park, making for a nice, flat space to walk and watch your dog play with the other puppies.
