Colgan Creek Trail

Colgan Creek Trail is a fun trail you and your pup will both love! This 1.2-mile trail is paved the whole way through, making it easy for dogs to walk on. Dogs are welcome to join you on the trail on-leash.

The trail begins at Stony Point Road in Santa Rosa, where free street parking is available. The first part of the trail takes you through a lovely, shady forest filled with native trees. You’ll also see Colgan Creek — you’ll follow the creek for the majority of your walk. As you walk along the creek, you may get to see some of the wild birds that live in the water, including egrets and mallards. You might also get to see some of Santa Rosa’s other native wildlife, including every dog’s favorite: California gray squirrels!

After you go through the forest, you’ll reach a long section of the trail that goes through open fields. This part of the trail also takes you past a farm that’s home to alpacas, horses, and more.

As you continue along the path, you’ll walk through more open fields, and you’ll get great views of the mountain in the distance. You’ll also get to see the pawesome Laguna de Santa Rosa watershed.

Near the end of the path, you’ll walk through another shady wooded area. After that, you’ll go through a few housing subdivisions, and then, you’ll reach the end of the trail at Bellevue Avenue. Take a few minutes to relax here with your pup before you head back to the start of the trail.

The Colgan Creek Trail is a furrific paved trail that provides great views of Colgan Creek and the mountains around Santa Rosa. Bring a few doggy bags with you so you can clean up after your dog during your stroll, and have a good time trekking here!
