Howarth Park Trails

If you’re searching for a fun-filled place to take your dog for a stroll, check out Howarth Park! This pawesome park has tons of trails to explore, and dogs are welcome to join you in the park on-leash.

Howarth Park is home to 12 trails that range in length from 0.2 miles to 3.7 miles. If you’d like to take a long hike with your dog, hop on the 3.7-mile Spring Lake Loop. This loop trail takes you through both Howarth Park and neighboring Spring Lake Regional Park. As you walk along the trail, you’ll pass beautiful Lake Ralphine and Spring Lake. You’ll also go through a shady wooded area, and you’ll see tons of wildflowers and wildlife, including mallards, snowy egrets, great egrets, swans, red-shoulder hawks, otters, and California gray squirrels.

If you’re looking for a shorter but still scenic hike, try the 0.4-mile Eagle Scout Trail. This trail begins by Howarth Park’s main parking lot. It takes you along the west side of Lake Ralphine, and you’ll get stunning views of the water throughout the whole hike. The trail also connects to the 0.3-mile Old Fisherman’s Trail, which goes along the east side of the lake. You can use this trail to get back the parking lot, creating a furrific loop!

If you and your pup are hungry after your hike, head to the area near Howarth Park’s main entrance. There are three picnic pavilions here, including one picturesque lakeside picnic area. Restrooms and drinking water are also available by the main entrance.
