Description

Papago Park is a scenic park filled with desert trails you and your pup will both love. These trails range in length from 0.2 miles to 3.1 miles, and will take you through a beautiful desert landscape. Dogs are allowed to join you in this furrific park on-leash.

If you and your dog want to go on a long hike together, hop on the 3.1-mile Papago Park Fitness Trail. This multiuse loop trail begins at the West Park Drive parking lot and takes you around the western side of Papago Park. As you walk along this mostly flat trail, you’ll pass by tons of native Sonoran Desert plants, and you’ll go by a huge amphitheater. If you or your dog get hungry, there are two drinking fountains on the trail.

The Double Butte Loop Trail is another puptastic trail to hike on with your dog. This 2.3-mile unpaved trail also begins at the West Park Drive parking lot, and passes by two lovely buttes. The trail is mostly flat, with an elevation gain of just 50 feet.

If you’re looking for a shorter hike, Papago Park has plenty of great trails for you to try. If you want to walk along a scenic canal, hop on the 1.4-mile Crosscut Canal Path. Or, if you’d like to learn more about the plants in Papago Park, try the 0.5-mile Nature Trail. You can also check out the 0.8-mile Big Butte Loop Trail, which goes around the park’s two largest buttes and provides beautiful views of Downtown Phoenix. No matter which trail you choose, you and your dog are sure to have fun hiking here!

Papago Park is a puptastic desert park with lots of fun trails to explore. Be sure to bring some doggy bags with you, and have a great day out at this park.

Wag! does not allow or encourage Pet Care Providers to bring dogs to parks.
