Description

The Wabash Heritage Trail, Section 1 of 3, is an ideal hike for someone just getting into hiking. It starts in Battle Ground, Indiana. This first section of the long Wabash Heritage Trail begins in the Tippecanoe Battlefield Memorial, and ends in West Lafayette, where Section 2 of 3 takes over. While the view of wildflowers and wildlife is enough to tempt hiking veterans, the mild nature of this hike makes it perfect for someone not sure if hiking will suit them. Most hikes are pawfect from your pup's perspective, of course, unless you have one who prefers to nap on the couch!

Wabash Heritage Trail,Section 1 is the second longest section, and a beautiful place to start. If your dog is shy, you may want to stick to just this section. Bikes are prohibited in this area of the trail, which means this section is the least populated! It's a great place to take in some local history while racking up the miles with your pup.

If you want to wind up back where you started, you're going to have to turn this trail into an out and back. Keep in mind that you're going to have to walk out again, so pay close attention to your fatigue levels as you go along. You don't want to tire yourself out only to realize you still have to walk back! If you do stick it out to the end of this section of the trail, you'll be rewarded with a dip in the Wabash River! This gentle stream is the perfect place to relax before either turning back or leaving Section 1 of 3 for Section 2 of 3.

Your dog is going to love exploring this first section of the Wabash Heritage Trail at your side!

Wag! does not allow or encourage Pet Care Providers to bring dogs to parks.
