Overview
Reveal is a premium cat food company focused on formulating wet and dry cat foods made with natural ingredients without any artificial colors, flavors, or preservatives.
We rate Reveal cat food 4 out of 5 paws up. It deserves praise for producing limited-ingredient cat food recipes made with high-quality ingredients. Plus, many of its wet foods are extremely high in protein.
One of the main reasons Reveal misses out on a top rating is that its wet foods are not "complete and balanced.” You’ll need to serve them with another dry or wet food to ensure your cat has a nutritionally-balanced diet.
Read on for our full Reveal cat food review, where we examine different product lines, recalls, ingredient quality, and more.
Reveal cat food product ranges and flavors
Reveal produces three dry foods and over 25 supplemental wet foods, including recipes specially formulated for kittens and seniors.
Only Reveal's three dry cat food flavors are "complete and balanced," according to the Association of American Feed Control Officials (AAFCO) nutrient profile guidelines. All of Reveal's canned wet foods, pouches, and broth pots are for supplemental feeding only.
Reveal Complete Adult Chicken Dry Food
Reveal dry cat food
Reveal offers two adult dry foods and one recipe for kittens, all of which are grain-free. The two adult recipes are basically identical apart from their primary protein sources.
Each adult recipe lists a quality cut of meat as the top ingredient. However, they're high in carbs, with peas, lentils, and chickpeas listed within the top six ingredients.
Peas are also high in protein and aren't a whole protein for cats—which means each variety’s protein content is slightly misleading. Both recipes also contain meat meals, which provide a protein boost.
Both recipes include fewer than 10 main ingredients, with flaxseeds included as a natural omega fatty acid source. Overall, they're good quality dry foods but are too high in carbs. A limited flavor variety isn't ideal for cats with food allergies or sensitivities.
Reveal Complete Kitten Chicken dry food recipe has elevated DHA levels to aid development and brain function. It's also rich in taurine, an essential amino acid that promotes general well-being. Overall, the base ingredients in this recipe are the same as the adult foods, apart from the addition of dried egg, which provides added protein to support growth.
Reveal adult dry cat foods contain slightly above-average protein levels (41.9% as dry matter) and above-average fat levels (18.7% as dry matter) compared to standard dry cat foods.

- Complete Adult Whitefish

Reveal Tuna in Gravy Wet Cat Food
Reveal wet cat food
Reveal's supplemental adult cat food range is extensive, with over 20 available recipes. They come packaged in cans, pouches, and plastic pots. We must stress that these recipes are not a complete meal for your cat — you'll need to add another dry or wet food for your cat to get all the nutrients they need in their diet.
Despite the wide range of food, almost every variety consists mainly of chicken or tuna—not ideal if your cat has a specific poultry or fish allergy. That said, all recipes have minimal ingredients, with most consisting of just real cuts of meat and broth.
Overall, these recipes are a good protein base for your cat's diet—it's just a shame they're not complete cat foods.
One of the best features of Reveal adult wet cat foods is their protein levels. A can of Reveal Chicken Breast in Broth contains 83.3% protein as dry matter and just 2.7% fat as dry matter, making it an excellent addition for your cat's next meal.

Reveal Wet Kitten Food Variety Pack
Reveal Kitten and Senior wet cat food
Reveal also has recipes specifically for kittens and seniors. Its senior recipes are only available as a multi-pack. Like its adult recipes, these cat foods are for supplemental feeding only—you'll need to mix them with kibble.
Both kitten recipes consist of only two ingredients: a real cut of meat and broth. The senior recipes are a little more complicated. Their mousse texture is excellent for senior cats with dental issues, and each recipe contains guar gum and potato starch to improve their texture. Dried egg is added to each recipe to elevate protein levels.
Reveal Senior recipes are high in protein and moisture to help older felines maintain muscle and prevent dehydration. Kitten recipes are high in protein and low in fat to support healthy growth.
Reveal Kitten and Senior wet cat food flavors:
- Kitten Tuna Fillet in Broth
- Kitten Chicken Breast in Broth
- Senior Tuna Fillet with Salmon Mousse with Flakes
- Senior Tuna Fillet with Mackerel Mousse with Flakes
Reveal Freeze Dried Tuna Bites
Reveal cat treats
Reveal offers two cat treat lines: Freeze Dried Bites and Whole Loins.
Its Freeze Dried Bites are made from 100% all-natural meat and nothing else. They're freeze-dried to lock in nutrients and make them shelf-stable.
Reveal Whole Lions are of similar high quality — they're just premium cuts of fish that look just like you picked them up from the fish counter at your local grocery store.
Both treat options are excellent for cats, providing a premium protein source without any filler or artificial ingredients.

Why Wag! likes Reveal cat food
Here are a few reasons why we highly rate Reveal cat food!
High protein levels
Reveal's wet and dry cat foods have high protein content, which fuels your tiny tiger's active lifestyle. Protein performs many essential functions for cats, from supporting their immune system to keeping their coat sleek and shiny. While they're not complete meals, some Reveal wet foods contain over 80% protein—the perfect basis for your cat's diet.
The one downside is some recipes contain peas, which are rich in protein and can inflate the protein content of cat foods. Peas don't include all the essential amino acids cats need to be healthy and aren't considered whole proteins for cats.
No artificial ingredients
Reveal uses only natural ingredients in its cat foods and treats — no artificial flavors, colors, or preservatives here! As a result, you can feed your little lion Reveal safe in the knowledge that they're not ingesting any carcinogens that could damage their liver and kidneys and cause a host of other health issues. And as it's all-natural, Reveal is less likely to upset your cat's stomach.
B Corporation certified
Reveal has been a Benefit Corporation (B Corp) since 2021. B Corp is a non-profit that certifies whether companies meet its high social and environmental standards, ensuring transparent, fair, and sustainable business practices.
As it’s a B-Corp, you can feed your cat Reveal without feeling guilty about how it sources its ingredients or treats its workforce.
Concerns & considerations
Keep reading for a few things to bear in mind before you buy Reveal for your feline friend.
Wet foods aren't "complete and balanced"
The biggest downside of Reveal as a cat food range is that only their three dry foods are complete meals for cats. For your cat to get a complete meal, you need to mix Reveal wet foods with another complete dry or wet food.
It isn't immediately apparent that Reveal's wet foods aren't "complete and balanced," so you could easily get caught out when buying Reveal wet foods for your feline without realizing they’re for supplemental feeding. Always carefully read the label and feeding guidelines when purchasing pet foods.
Lack of flavor variety
Despite having over 20 wet food options, Reveal has a surprisingly limited variety of flavors. Almost all its foods contain chicken or tuna as the primary protein source. While most cats don't mind chowing down on tuna or chicken, this could be an issue for fussy felines or cats with specific meat intolerances.
High carb content in dry foods
Reveal's complete dry foods have higher carb levels than we'd like to see in cat food. Both adult recipes list peas, lentils, and chickpeas among the top six ingredients—all of which are high in carbs.
Carbs should be a minor energy source for cats. Ideally, their diet should consist of only between 10% and 15% carbs. Large amounts of carbs in a cat's diet can contribute to obesity.
What pet parents say about Reveal cat food
"Our sweet boy is on a restricted diet at the moment, so this bit of delicious pure protein is just the extra add on to satisfy him. He's loved it from the first serving, and we love providing something nourishing without a lot of calories to supplement his other food. He lets us know he's satisfied by leaving the kitchen and not begging for more to eat. Also like the choice of broth over gravy. Very happy that we discovered Reveal!"
