Can Dogs Sense Aliens?

Introduction

When you hear the words UFO or alien, you probably think of a science fiction movie - or maybe you're a believer. No matter what, aliens are a pretty fascinating subject for humans. The idea that we're not alone in the universe really gets us going.

If aliens were to invade earth, would anyone have your back? You'd hope your dog would, right? It's hard to say how a dog might react to an alien, but do you think they'd be able to sense aliens ever before you knew what was going on? That would give you a pretty big advantage if aliens were hostile. How would you be able to tell, though?

Signs Your Dog Senses Something You Don't

Until aliens invade earth and we get to observe how dogs react, it's anyone's best guess how dogs will react. So, for right now, we simply have to stick with what we know.

If your dog senses something that maybe you don't, there are a few telltale signs you can watch for. First off,  if they hear a new sound, their ears might stick up as they listen for clues about an unfamiliar thing. Your pup might also sniff the air for more ideas as to what's coming. You also might notice your dog pacing if they can’t go investigate the new sound.

Does this mean there are aliens? Meh, it's probably more likely there's a new mailman or unfamiliar person at your door - so don't get too paranoid - but you never know.

If an alien does show up at your door, your pooch could love them or really hate them. If your dog feels threatened or scared, they might bare their teeth, arch their back, and bark. They also might lunge and run after the aliens. With any luck, your pup will scare them off, and then you'll be alien free!

History of Dogs and Aliens

There are many, many movies and books about space, aliens, and unexplained phenomena. Humans love a good mystery, and aliens are one of our favorites. However, not all stories about aliens are fiction.

There are many stories throughout history about aliens visiting earth. There are countless UFO sightings every year, and famous stories of aliens visiting people. No one knows when humans' love affair with the idea of aliens came about, but interestingly, there is some speculation about aliens visiting ancient cultures such as the ancient Egyptians. People think this because of the drawings in pyramids that show strange beings that brought new ideas to the world.

There’s another theory some of the Egyptians were aliens themselves. Whether the Egyptians were depicting deities, symbolism, or real visits from aliens is fascinating. This has obviously never been confirmed, but it's a very interesting theory.

Science Behind Dogs and Aliens

Scientifically speaking, it wouldn’t be surprising if dogs could in fact sense aliens. Dogs can sense a lot of things humans don't notice. They are great at studying humans' routines and the routines around them.

Dogs also have amazing senses of smell. A dog has 300 million olfactory receptors while humans have only 6 million. Wow, right? Pretty amazing! Dogs also have a great sense of hearing. Their ears are made to trap sound. If you want to get a taste of what that means, cup your ear and listen to something and you'll be able to hear better. Dogs can hear things between 67-45,000 Hz while humans can only hear 64-23,000. So, if something was off, you can bet your dog would smell or hear it before you.

Also, there are interesting thoughts about dogs being able to sense the paranormal. So, if you consider aliens part of the paranormal, your pup might be able to sense aliens in other ways as well.

Training Your Dog to Sense Aliens

So can you train a dog to sense aliens? That'd be pretty cool, but right now, there isn't much about how to do that. Maybe someday! The only thing you can do is keep your pup healthy and build your bond so you understand your pup's reactions better.

To keep your pup healthy, feed them good food and not junk. Make sure they have plenty of clean water available. Take them for plenty of walks and play with them often. Also, make sure they see their vet regularly and that illnesses are taken care of right away. Other than that, there’s not much else to do.

So can dogs sense aliens? Who knows! Until aliens come knocking on your door, just continue to keep an eye on your pup and keep them healthy so if the day comes, you'll both be prepared.
